I am a proud graduate of Carroll High School, class of 1986!  After high school, I attended Troy State University (now Troy University) and graduated in 1990 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  After teaching 2nd grade for many years, I returned to college in Troy and earned a degree in Collaborative Education for grades K-6.

It seems that I have spent a large portion of my life at Mixon School!  I was a student here myself (a long time ago) for 4th-6th grades.  During college, I returned to Mixon to complete my internship.  I was blessed to be hired at Mixon for the 1990-91 school year as a 2nd grade teacher.  I taught 2nd grade for 14 years before having the opportunity to become a special education teacher.  This is my 12th year in that capacity.  Mixon is truly home for me.

I am an Ozark native, having moved here from Selma, Alabama during 4th grade.  I have been married to my wonderful husband Jeff for 24 years.  We are the proud parents of Clay, who is a freshman at Troy University.  Go Trojans!  In addition to my parents, my brothers and their families, I am blessed to have a large extended "family" of colleagues, students, and parents, both past and present.

In our classroom, there are only two rules:

(1)  Be nice.

(2)  Work hard.

I believe that those rules will serve a person well throughout life.
